This table-top sized sculpture was created in stainless steel with an automotive paint patina. The color palette was chosen to convey a feeling of child-like playfulness. It reminds me of the feeling of "first efforts" - trying that new thing for the first time. Think of a child trying a flip or a dive for the first time. That fear of facing the unknown is quickly replaced with the exhilaration of having tried ... and survived. These experiences are often accompanied by a triumphant " I did it !!!". Funny thing is, it mostly doesn't matter how well the thing was done that first time. I think what matters most is closing the gap space between "can't" and "can".
